Profound Question #1
“What is Your Main Sim in Life?”
You know, that one thing you pursue over and above everything else, that Napoleon Hill refers to in one of the best selling books of all time: “Think and Grow Rich” as a Primary Purpose, or a Definite Chief Aim?
Without one main goal to aim your whole life at, how would you know where your life was heading, or what to do on a day to day basis, that would eventually lead you to you live your best life?
If you don’t have a clear and compelling main aim, there would be nothing stopping you from drifting aimlessly though life, and nothing desirable in the distance, drawing you towards its gravitational pull.
Simply put, Your Best Goal today is one that leads you to live Your Best Life tomorrow (or at least one day in your not too distant future).
Think about it.
What would your best life be about?
What about that would be so satisfying and rewarding for you?
Figuring out what you are good at and motivated to do, and tailoring your life to capitalize on those skills and interests (taking into account your specific circumstances and available opportunities), is the basic formula for living your best life.
To make it easier and avoid analysis paralysis, you can make a game out of it, and simply permit yourself to fantasize.
If you give yourself the gift of being free to fantasize about all the possible lives that you could live, without having to know ahead of time which one would be best for you, you’ll almost certainly have Your Best Goal amongst them as an option.
What would you do with your life if you knew ahead of time that you just couldn’t fail?
What would lead you to feel satisfied at the end of every day?
What would feel good to think about doing tomorrow?
What legacy or mark will you leave behind when your game is over and the end eventually arrives?
It can be a tough challenge figuring out what you want to be remembered for, by those who’s lives you’ll leave behind.
But, as a Coach and Therapist, I know a trick or three that takes the challenge out of finding your answer.
Your best goal is easy to uncover when you know and understand your purpose.
And the time and frustration saving trick to short cut your search is simple.
All you need to do is….find out what the people in your life appreciate about you.
That’s right. It’s always easier to advise others than uncover elusive answers in yourself.
That’s why all great coaches have coaches, and all good therapists have therapists.
Other people’s problems are way easier to handle than our own, because other people’s problems aren’t generally a threat to us.
And without any personal threat, there is very little to be highly defended against.
So before the intensive training begins, ask the 5 people closest to you what skill, ability, characteristic or achievement, they think of when they think of you?
We’ll be taking this further in your next email - and before you know it you’ll clearly see how your life can be infused with meaning and lived intentionally, when your immediate goals lead you progressively towards your primary purpose.
For today, just remain focused on your fantasies - and make sure you make it a point to ask your challenging question, maybe even on social media?
If you have any specific questions you’d like answered, or anything you need clarification on, let’s connect in the Facebook Group and I’ll be more than happy to help you as much as I can.
